The year is 950 AD, and Hogwarts is on its way to success. Just twenty-some years ago, the Four Founders - Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff - created Hogwarts. About twenty years has passed, and everything seems to be going well, but the success is about to turn into complete and utter chaos... They are living in a time of hatred towards wizards and witches, they are living in the time of the Witch Craze. Muggle spies are slyly sneaking into Hogwarts, posing as normal students, and the Evil Side is beginning to form... Who can you trust? But the biggest threat of all is not the people, but it: The Rancid Blade.

THE DAILY PROPHET
Issue 1 ; August 950 AD ; Version 2

ANOTHER VICTIM: BUT WITH A TWIST

Elderly local woman, Abigail Spencer, was found practicing magic by London Muggle Police near Brockdale Bridge early this month. A young Muggle boy who caught her in the act and reported her claimed, "She was practicing some type of witchcraft! It was horrible, the worst thing I've ever seen in my short life. There were colors flying everywhere, and she looked like the devil! She was wearing this gruesome dark cloak covering her whole body, and whispering nonsense that sounded like dark magic, the work of the Devil himself. I'm glad she's rid of." The Muggle police quickly arrived to the location where she was immediately sentenced to death. However, rather than being beheaded like most are, one police officer claimed that she was much too dangerous to be wandering the streets even for a few extra minutes. "I had to kill her immediately. Luckily, I had my pocket knife with me so I just stabbed the bloody creature a few times and she fell to the ground rather quickly..... I'm just here to do my job and keep the city safe." We give all of our condolences to the Spencer family. In the mean time, we warn you not to go near Brockdale Bridge for a couple of weeks. The Muggle traffic there is ridiculous, and we don't want them catching on.

THE WIZARD'S COUNCIL: FINALLY HERE

Since Isaac Khalor came back from Australia, we have heard rumors that the Wizard's Council would once again return, like it had when his father was alive. However, months have gone by without any clarification. But yesterday Isaac Khalor called a meeting to all Wizards who could come announcing that the Wizard's Council is finally in session.

"..... After much thought and consideration, we have finally agreed upon the Wizard's Council's set up, purposes, goals, and location for it to finally come into action. The Wizard's Council is here for the protection of our kind. We will set up laws restricting access to various Muggle/Wizard locations, as well as laws to hide our identity ...... For the purposes of practicing magic, students will not be permitted to practice it outside of Hogwarts. For all others, we have planned and set up several private locations for you to practice and perform magic at your own free will, without Muggles discovering what you are doing. This is our time to fight back, against those who have been killed Wizards and Witches for years. Now is our time to continue our lives without fearing persecution! ...... This is our time.

HOGWARTS NEW TERM: WHAT TO EXPECT

Finally, summer is coming to a close, and the young adults of our wizarding community knows what that means: Back to School! A much awaited time, Hogwarts will be opening its doors once again for another hopefully successful and pleasant year. Students have been more than eager to return to their home away from home and learn magic in a safe, and fun place. The Four Founders have given hope to the Wizarding World. But this year seems to be a very special year! A little bird told the Daily Prophet committee a few things that the Hogwarts students can expect for the upcoming year:

  • Better food, and new meals
  • Cleaner, new designed common rooms
  • More classes are being offered
  • More students and staff members attending than there has ever been
  • Several dances throughout the school year and other celebrations
  • The Q-Wizard Tournament (for the first time!)
  • Broom Racing Competitions
  • The House Cup (for the first time!)
  • and more!

We have a feeling that this year is going to be exceptional, and the staff at Hogwarts is completely convinced that the students will enjoy it like never before. And for all parents out there, your concerns have been addressed. We have been able to speak with Rowena Ravenclaw about the safety of Hogwarts: "We have indeed received your letters. The Headmaster and the other three Founders and I had all discussed the safety issues that have risen these past couple years. In alliance with the Wizard's Council, we have built more safety guards surrounding the school, and we can guarantee that your children will all be safe."

If you'll be attending Hogwarts this year, you better start packing your bags and shopping for your school supplies! Go to page 4 for some tips and ideas on the best places to shop.

BROOM RACING NEWS

BELGIUM BULLS VS MONSTROSE MAGPIES

Another match that's sure to rile up the crowds! The Belgium Bulls and the Monstrose Magpies go head to head tomorrow night. It's long been known that these two teams are rivals but so are the fans! Be careful when you go to this broom racing match, or else you might end up going home with a black eye and bloody nose. Word has it that there will be some extra security at the game tomorrow. They'll be on the watch for anyone who tries to pick a fight. So if you're planing on riling things up, make sure you're not near security when it happens or you might just find yourself in a holding cell for the night!
